Go Smudge Yourself!

Why smudge yourself?


Some of us are like “sponges”. We can become overloaded with other people’s energy, emotions and thoughts. This can influence our overall health making us feel fatigued, irritable, sad etc. Many people, like empaths, will take precautions in protecting themselves, for example, wearing certain crystals etc. Others aren’t aware this is happening to them and can’t explain why they feel they way they do.


So why smudge yourself?


· You have had a bad day

· You feel overwhelmed

· You feel scattered (not thinking clearly)

· You feel “off”

· You have just been in a toxic situation


So how do I smudge myself?


Smudging doesn’t have to be a massive production! There is also no wrong or right way to do this, everyone who does this regularly does it in a way that suits them.


1. Wear something comfortable, find yourself an area where its quiet and you have room to work. Stand with your legs slightly apart and arms slightly to your side.


2. I then like to ask “Spirit” (you can use whoever you are comfortable with God/Goddess/Universe) to cleanse and bless my body. You can find many cleansing rites on the internet or make your own. Just keep your intent clear. Something simple like "I release all negative energy and all energies that no longer serve me".


3. Light your sage stick, and let it burn for a little. While holding it continue to think of your intention. Take some slow breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth slowly.


4. Starting down at my right foot, I slowly wave the smudge stick and work my way up my right leg, as I am doing this, I am constantly asking spirit to cleanse and bless my body. I continue up my body, doing the right side of my body, up under my right arm, over the shoulder, over my head and down the left side until I reach the ground at my left foot.


5. I carefully place the smudge stick down (onto something heat proof) and run my hands over my body starting from the top “flicking” downward. Just as if you were flicking of some crumbs. I sometimes like to do this, just to “flick off” any unwanted left-over energy.


6. Take a minute then to thank “Spirit” for assisting you. You can also say a positive affirmation to yourself. “Thank you Spirit for helping me, I feel cleansed and blessed. I feel more connected with myself and vibrate love and light”.


You can smudge yourself as often as you like. Remembering however, that if this doesn’t feel comfortable to you, do what works for you. There is no wrong or right way. If you need assistance of course you can always contact me and I am more than happy to help you..
